POPEYE VILLAGE – A CLOSER LOOK by sangwann

POPEYE VILLAGE – A CLOSER LOOK

It was not my intention to go down to the village proper because I assumed that Max had been there before for childrens' birthday parties. But when I asked him about it he said that yes, he had been here for parties but at a restaurant building which has the same theme but which was just outside the complex. He looked eager to go to the village. So I bought the tickets for both of us and down we went.
This shot shows the main street of the village as we descended down the pathway from the top of the cliffs. Please note that all the buildings are just props built expressly for the Popeye film and completely made of wood. Before it was just rocks and perhaps a few boat sheds.
Many thanks for your views, comments, and FAV’s. They are very much appreciated.
Quiant village!!

Wow. I was desperate to see that film when I was young. I must look it up again although I don't think it was a "classic". Great set.

Oh! Good job you said that they’re props - I thought it was ‘real’. Do you approve of them being left up or should it be returned to cliffs?
