A break from my account of our Sicily holiday to show some shots from last week-end.
This shot was taken last Sunday when., again, I rose up before sunrise to go take some shots of the rising sun. This time I went to the Grand Harbour side of Valletta. The building you see on the other side of the harbour is today the Esplora Interactive Science Centre.
Before extensive restoration and years of neglect this was the Royal Naval Hospital Bighi (RNH Bighi), a major naval hospital located in the small town of Kalkara. The hospital was built on the site of the gardens of Palazzo Bichi and served the eastern Mediterranean in the 19th and 20th centuries. It contributed to the nursing and medical care of casualties whenever hostilities occurred in the Mediterranean.
Thanks a lot for your views, comments and fav's on my pictures.
