I took this shot a few weeks ago when I went to San Anton with Christine and Max . I thought it was worth sharing.
This chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Pilar is part of San Anton Palace which is the official residence of the President of the Maltese Republic. Except for the palace itself and a small private garden the palace grounds are open to the public. San Anton Palace contains another chapel dedicated to St. Anthony.
The Chapel of Our Lady of Pilar was built in the 18th century. It consists of a barrel-vaulted nave, with ribs dividing the ceiling into six bays. The vault is decorated with the coats of arms of de Vilhena. António Manoel de Vilhena was a Portuguese nobleman who was the 66th Prince and Grand Master of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem from 19 June 1722 to his death in 1736.
Anybody touring the palace grounds or just passing by, can go in the chapel for prayers before the exposed Holy Sacrament.
Many thanks for your views, comments, and FAV’s. They are very much appreciated.
