Ireland – third day of our holiday (20th July, 2019).
Shot taken at Kinsale.
There were many fowl, mostly gulls, in the inner harbour of Kinsale. Among them was this motionless heron which I thought was just a statue of some sort as it remained still for a good long time. I had been pointing my camera at it for quite some time when I decided to test it by throwing a tiny stone as close to it as possible and see if it reacts. It moved a tiny bit and I was at least convinced it was alive. So I set the camera, held it in my right hand and threw another tiny stone with my left hand to convince it to take off. As I am right handed the stone landed anywhere but near the heron which remained still. “OK” I said to myself. “I’ll hold the camera in the left hand while I throw the stone with the right and then quickly change hands again”. It worked, the heron took off but the picture, although in focus left out part of the heron’s shadow on the water. And so here it is and the end of my story for today.
Thank you very much for looking and for the comments and fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
