Last winter was bitter......unforgettably!
And so many precious things suffered.
But some precious things survived.......so many plants are gifts from friends or were treasured by the people who lived here before us,
so noticing them today brought a smile!
UIt is strange because although we have lost plants in the harsh winter some have done even better ! There are some plants that like that long dormant period I am thinking of the Lilac bush in particular so I think the Buddleia is a similar family . Lovely collage !
Lovely picture. And some of teh survivors have been surprises.
My huge cordyline was dead as a dodo , so cut it down . Then it sprang 3 shoots from its base !
It is surprising what's survived. I've got lots of self-seeded flowers this year and have just let them bloom wherever they spring up - they ('weed' or 'wild) deserve to after last winter!

Thank you all! It was so lovely to see that fabulous purple colour where I didn't expect it. Interesting about how many have 'self seeded!' I was commenting on that the other afternoon - don't know where some came from but they definitely deserve to blossom this year!
Nature has a way of taking care of itself, doesn't it? I guess that's the way God intended it to be- although gardening helps! Your gardens always look very natural. I know you'd say it's because you don't get to work in them enough, but that gives the gardens the opportunity to present you with these lovely surprises. Pretty collage! Beautiful flowers!!
Really nice collage--and glad some plants survived too (: I remember some pretty bitter winters when I lived in Canada. I still prefer them over North Carolina summers though!
