I love this photo of Allan's parents when they were young. So much love and life which brought them through over 60 years of married life. At different times in fairly recent years I had a conversation with each of them about when they were young, he had been in the Royal Navy during the war, and she had moved to Glasgow to work in her late teens as so many people from the Western Isles did. They were happy talking about their earlier lives to me and it's a precious memory for me now.
They both made me feel so much part of the family even though I didn't see them very often- Allan worked in Aberdeen and I was teaching up north until we got married.
Three good things
1. Safely home again and no delays in spite of the storm last night.
2. Text message from friend to say 'power off' soon after we left Glasgow so we were able to stop for lovely lunch and no cooking needed when we got home.
3. Allan's 'double birthday'....I'd forgotten to take his gift and card with me so bought another gift and card in Glasgow! He's so worth it!!!!
Lovely photo…Allan looks very like his father don’t you think? A long & happy life together…they were blessed! Good thinking on the part of your friend!
