Goodbye Kiev by sarah19

Goodbye Kiev

This was yesterday! We were up early to get our taxi to the airport and after a very wet day yesterday it was so nice to have blue skies.
This is probably the last visit to Kiev as the family are moving to a new setting in the summer. We have really enjoyed our visits here and feel some kind of connection with the Ukrainian people and their struggles of recent years and earlier history from our tours etc.
At Amsterdam airport I saw the poster and it made me smile. The family had actually flown on Friday to London to a job fair, hoping to find a new place to explore, so it didn't feel like we'd left them behind.
And Susannah had flown down from Edinburgh to be babysitter/childminder while Mum and Dad were out being busy!
We had lovely Skype time after getting home last night and again this evening and they seem pretty happy with how things went. And did laugh as Connor had been asking this morning ' Where's Sandy shoes?'.......his version of Auntie Sus!!!!
Three good things
1. A great sleep round the clock last night
2. Skype and keeping in touch!
3. Nice to be home.....really appreciate our lovely place after being away......it is very chilly here though!
