November harvest by sarah19

November harvest

At mum's for the weekend so, in spite of very chilly wind, I went out and lifted most of the vegetables I'd planted earlier in the year. So lovely to smell the carrots....definitely the favourites as they have grown so well!!!
Three good things
1. Lovely coffee stop this morning with Mum and her friend Sheila...183 years between the two of them!!
2. Home made parsnip soup for lunch.
3. Sharing .... my Mum has been reading to me from a book written by a local gentleman...I say local....he has lived here for almost 70 years but was born in what was part of Germany and had been a prisoner of war and was repatriated not far from Tain. His son was in my class at school and such a lovely story...must get the book!!!

Thank you for your lovely comments. I heard someone say that if you earth up your carrots like you do potatoes then carrot fly can't get to the young plants....so I did and was delighted with them. They were quite spaced out so no thinning needed. Loved the smell of freshly dug carrots.

Thank you for reminding me of that lovely smell of carrots. Simply does not happen at the supermarket.
