We've had quite a lot of rain lately hence the big puddles everywhere.
I saw this individual at the harbour and smiled and greeted him. He asked me if I had any bread for him, which I didn't otherwise I would have given him a loaf. I got to chatting with him and he told me he was collecting cooldrink cans. I asked him how much he could sell the cans for, and he said he gets R12 per kilogram. In the bag he had, he thought he had just over 1 kg of cans he had squashed flat. To put his earnings into perspective, a loaf of ordinary cheap white bread costs about R16. Brown bread is sometimes a rand cheaper.
@ludwigsdiana Yes some folk sure do get a raw deal. I felt so sorry I hadn't been shopping at Spar before going to the harbour, so I really had no groceries with me to give him anything.
