My "Instant Guide To The Weather" book advised me that these would precede a temporary deterioration in the weather with rain showers within half an hour. They never happened and we had a glorious sunlit evening. That will teach me to buy a book written mostly for yachtsman, when I live about as far from the sea as you can get in the UK.
