An abandoned crane rig extends out over a frozen pond, adjacent to the sand pit close to our home. Water pumped from the sand pit workings is stored in this pond – the water must be quite clean, because I occasionally see fishermen on the shore. With the current price of scrap metal, this crane is probably quite valuable. A bit too large to drag home though, even with the help of the dogs.
