Rock on rock

Reddish sedimentary rock overlaying the grey coloured granite in our local quarry. The rocks are dry, sandy, and presumably poor in nutrients, but vegetation still manages to become established where excavations have left a ledge.
Yes, it's amazing how nature wins in the end, very clear stratification on top of the granite, text book geology!
