Bridgenorth Funicular Railway by shepherdman

Bridgenorth Funicular Railway

A weekend in Staffordshire with friends. The original plan was to canoe down the River Severn from Bridgenorth, and catch a steam train for the return journey. The canoeing was cancelled, due to high water level in the river. Only two months ago we thought it may be cancelled due to insufficient water flowing down stream! Instead we explored Bridgenorth, including a ride on the funicular railway that takes visitors from the river bank up to the town centre high above the river, away from the floods that regularly affect the riverside properties.
Never been on a funicular, must have been good fun. Looks like a nice comfortable old-fashioned means of travel!
