Tales of the river bank

I haven’t quite got used to morning dog walks taking place in the pre-dawn early light, and so repeatedly forget to take my camera. There have been the occasional photo-opportunities, all missed, and generally the evening walks are still too dark for any photograph other than the last light in the sky. Consequently please excuse this riverside fill in from the recent snow. The river at the bottom of the shallow valley behind our home is more of a brook or stream than a true river, just a few feet wide. It has its share of wildlife though, and despite the presence of the dogs I have regularly seen water voles, and, of course, ducks. I haven’t seen fish, but there is the occasional fisherman, who are liable to get barked at (they do tend to wear odd-shaped hats which probably makes the dogs wary), and so presumably there must be fish for them to catch. My neighbour reported seeing a kingfisher a few weeks ago – I have yet to have to have this privilege by this particular river, but will keep my eyes peeled. There are many things to be enjoyed during a walk with two vigorous dogs. Unfortunately ornithology isn’t really one of them.
Lovely feeling of crispness here, it's a lovely shot. My dogs have always barked at fisherman too, I have always thought it was their rather unnatural stillness that spooked them. It's quite embarrassing!

Well I would image the dogs have other things in mind besides watching for birds! Lovely reflection.
