This footpath on one of our regular routes across the fields to a village a couple of miles away cuts diagonally across a cultivated field, which must be inconvenient for the farmer. In practice once the field has been ploughed and sown, it can be weeks, if not months, before the path is reinstated, but I don’t mind in the slightest – the field edges are wide and grassy. I am sure that the dogs find the field edges much more interesting than this barren track which is eventually created by spraying a scar through the growing crop
Yes we have these and I often wonder if the farmers would prefer the verges around the fields to be used. They are all ancient footpaths and have to be kept as such. They are fine until they are ploughed and then they are good for twisting the odd ankle!!
