Beeing busy by shepherdman

Beeing busy

A bumble and honey bee (or on closer exmination it may be a hover fly) share a cow parsley bloom. Cow parsley (or “keck” as it is colloquially known around here) is very popular with flying insects of all varieties. You can understand why bees dig deep into the large flowers of a foxglove, but cow parsley doesn’t look very productive. Judging by the long time that bees spend on each flower, the nectar available in all the tiny florets of cow parsley must greatly exceed that of the fewer larger flowers of a foxglove. PS - a desire to obtain brownie points prompts me to recommend a glance at http://365project.org/shepherdmanswife!
Yes I've noticed that. They sit for ages on cow parsley, and yes all varieties of insects far and wide. This shot is great, a common sight at the moment.
