Another late evening walk and more grasses in backlit in the descending, but not yet setting, summer sun. Some folk like garden flowers in morning or evening sunshine, but I like the delicate details of wild grasses, which are after all wild flowers of a sort, even if Shepherdman’s Wife does encourage me to be a bit more imaginative. My two dogs have a new companion – my friend further up the Lane is dog sitting his sister’s chocolate Labrador, and they are joining us on our dog walks. For someone who has lived on the Lane for far longer than we have Richard is not particularly familiar with the local network of footpaths, and has been exploring new territory within only a couple of miles of his home. It takes a dog to introduce the delights of countryside on the doorstep. A note of no consequence to the image – as I write four buzzards are circling slowly and effortlessly above my garden, occasionally calling with their almost spooky "mewing", absolutely magnificent birds. Should I invest in a long lens, I wonder?
These grasses look lovely in the golden evening sun. I particularly like that you can see detail in the grasses at the top and the bottom half goes into silhouette.
I used to take dogs for walks and now, I take the camera for a walk! Sadly our two dogs died and I can't bear to own another and go through that worry of keeping them safe and the heartbreak of them dying! Still love to hear of dog tales as I am doing here!
@maggiemae Its the downside of being a dog lover - heartbreaking when you lose them, and a hard decision on whether you can fill the hole that is left.
I love the beauty and softness of these images of grasses - the sense of movement in the wind - the rich gilding of the sunlight - that wonderful flare of light from the sinking sun - the powerful strength of the silhouetted foliage grounding the whole image. Truly beautiful and a lovely capture of the evening breeze
