Cornwall is very dog-friendly, with dogs welcome in many shops, most pubs, and even some cafes and restaurants, but, as is the case with many seaside resorts, dogs are excluded from the sandiest beaches, a rule which, you may be surprised to hear, I have some sympathy for. With no dog walking on the beaches of Mousehole or Penzance, dog walkers head for a pebbly beach a mile or so outside of Penzance, with a supermarket at one end, a railway goods yard at the other, and the railway track running along the inland boundary of the coastal strip. It doesn’t sound very attractive, but in fact it is fine. The beach is wide, with sandy area revealed by the low tide, views across the bay to St Michaels Mount, and a paved footpath among the rocks at the top of the beach. Something for everyone really, including this fisherman who we encountered close to the car park as we set off for one of our evening strolls to stretch our paws.
Love the silhouette against that illuminated water! What is that next to him that almost looks like a tripod? I can only see two legs and it looks like it may be holding a bait bucket or something.
Nice lighting in this shot
