Off the boil

Back to the mundane with this image of a boiler house chimney – St Peters boiler house chimney to be precise. The boiler provided hot water and heating to a large inner city high rise estate, originally burning large quantities o coke to do so. The chimney commonly belched black smoke and distributed ash and occasional cinders on to folk passing by. Nowadays the boiler is powered by gas, and the chimney is reduntant.
Very cool POV!

In some ways advancement of technology is good and in some ways it is sad these edifices are no longer used! Good photo to get it all in!
