A dandelion seed head in the fields behind our home. Since we are surrounded by fields, it is unsurprising that a weekend of serious weeding in the garden has to be repeated just a few weeks later, even if all of our neighbours are as fastidious at weeding we try to be. Dandelions are bad enough, but groundsel is worse. These weeds seem to release all of their seeds from around the field edges all at the same time, a gentle snow flurry of wind-blown seeds, slightly smaller than dandelion seeds, invading the garden in late summer, and promising plenty of weeding during the following season.
