The Castelle de Morella rises above the medieval wall village that we visited during our Spanish trip. Even when on raised ground it is the structure of most castles that are imposing, but this castle was atop a high rocky hill, with the attendant defences and gates cascading down the hill. It was as though a traditional castle had been draped over the rock, like a lumpy table cloth. It was a long steep climb to the top, and @shepherdmanswife and I were the only ones to attempt it from our party. Some had visited before, some preferred to explore the streets below, and some just couldn’t face the climb.
I would have joined you if I were there. These old castles are so enchanted. Beautiful shot and the white clouds behind the castle look like they were put there especially for you.
I'll bet the view was worth the climb!
