Thanks to recent hot weather I have been out dog-walking a little later than usual, waiting until the heat as has ebbed away from the day as the sun lowers to the horizon. At this time of the day I love a route that takes us to the far side of the shallow valley behind our home, up a field-side footpath to a dusty quarry road that runs along a low ridge with views across to our home in one direction, and the village of Thurlaston in another, as the sky turns golden behind the wild flowers growing alongside the track.
