This was taken a few weeks ago when morning dog walks were post-dawn, not pre- dawn. On working days I generally walk the dogs at about 7.am, and I can see the days getting shorter. During autumn I start with seeing the sun lower over the horizon, and then I see the sunrise, initially on the outward journey and then as I return home. It has seems only a week or so since I had sight of the sun during the walk, but now, even on a clear day, the homeward journey is still distinctly grey. On cloudy days, as today has been, I can just about make out the hedges on the far side of the field when we go through the gate onto the field track when we set off.
