Cloud on the horizon hid the sunrise this morning, but by the time that I was out with the dogs the sun had risen above clouds, turning the countryside (and the inevitable pylons) pale gold. It is good to see that the farmer managing the fields behind us leaves stubble well into autumn, and possibly over winter, encouraging grubs and insects which in turn encourage many wild birds. Ploughing soon after harvest followed by autumn sowing of the next seasons crop is more common around us.
