I was watching 3 of these chicks fly up to the feeding station to be fed by mum or dad who would peck off a piece of suet and give it to each of them at 6.30 this morning. I wasn't ready with my camera and the window was dirty and I had to leave for work. So I set the camera up and when I got home from work I could hear the chicks in the nearby trees so made myself a cup of tea and sat outside waiting with zoom lens on my camera ready.
I didn't need the zoom. This little fluff ball landed on the fence about 4 feet from where I was sitting and sang his song waiting to be fed. Mum and dad were not as brave as him so wouldn't come to him. He flew off to join his family back in the trees.
It was a delightful and unexpected encounter.
