Mountain Hare by shepherdmanswife

Mountain Hare

I drove 439 miles to Aviemore yesterday with Storm Dennis battering the car and today went to find Mountain Hares in the Cairngorms in Scotland. 60 mile per hour winds blowing snow in my face. It was very difficult climbing to where the Hares were but well worth it to see this beautiful individual
Lovely capture I can't imagine driving that far for a shot!

This photo is beautiful. Love the comp and the details in the fur. It deserves some kind of Ansel Adams award for effort with a beautiful result...certainly.

Oh, you brave lady! The weather is inclement at the moment to say the least! Thankfully the mountain hare are now at one with their environment. It was very distressing to see the white hares bounding around on the brown landscape a few weeks back. So exposed! Beautiful capture of this fellow.

@jamibann I hear that last Monday was the first time they had any lying snow this year so we have been very lucky to see them in the environment they should be in. Just a shame that it was so windy as there was no chance of getting a front on shot as the wind would have blown the snow straight up our lenses. But at least I have now seen one and photographed it. I’m so happy 😀
