It is said that applying the liquid from the Jewel Weed stem to your skin will neutralize poison ivy's oily antigen and keep it from spreading. But it must be applied immediately following contact with the poison ivy plant.
@vickisfotos - This does grow wild. There are two varieties, orange and yellow. Orange seems to be more predominant, but this year I have seen more yellow plants then usual. But maybe that is because of me doing the 365 challenge.
@lynnb - Thank you very much Lynn!! Usually, but not all the time, if I find a cluster of flowers I can find some off to the side where I can maneuver around them so there is a dark object behind or a deep shady area. Sometimes I have to cheat and use Photoshop to darken the background. Usually you'll find these growing around the edge of creek beds, rivers or wetlands from May through October.
@ruthmouch - Thank you so much Ruth for all your kind comments!!
