I can remember as a kid, picking these and throwing them at unsuspecting victims. At this stage the barbed heads will stick to clothing and the whole head is easily removed. But as the seeds dry and turn brown they are a nuisance. Each seed will come out of the head and cover your pant legs, shoe strings and socks if you get to close to the plant.
@vickisfotos - Thank you Vicki!1 I guess I left out the part that I just introduced my youngest granddaughter to these. She has the most surprised look on her face when one of these stuck to her shirt after I through it at her. But, she retaliated quickly (:
@jannkc - They are, unless you have to remove many of the little seeds one-by-one that are stuck to your clothing,

I like the dof and your composition Skip.
I've no idea what they were called but we had a similar plant to these when I was a kid, we would collect the heads and 'bomb' each other with them! Happy days :)
@lynnb - I always wanted to see what the flower looked like before it turned to seed. But on looking close up I see the yellow is teeny little flowers. They are an annoyance once the seeds dry as well as burdocks.
@kerristephens - Thank you so much Kerri!!
