This photo came about out of the blue. My wife and I went back to the Amish nursery to get a few more plants. The Amish man asked if I could take close ups? I thought he meant macros. I told him yes. So he took me into his house and asked it I would photograph his model airplane he made. This is not a kit. It was built by hand out of pieces of wood and hand painted not decals. He had other pictures of the plane taken by other photographers, but this it the first one with the props. He said he loves airplanes. I asked if he ever flew in one, but he answered, "I'm not allowed." This surprised me since they can ride in cars, buses and trains. I was overwhelmed by the detail he has put into this plane. He does subscribe to an aircraft magazine.

I posted this not as having a chance that some day it might make it to the PP. It was more out of the surprise I felt when I learned that an Amish man had such a love for airplanes. As he placed it on the table and changed the plane's position for me to photograph it, it was almost like watching a young boy on Christmas morning playing with the toy that he wanted the most. You could tell this plane was a part of him. Yes, Kali I could somewhat sense the hurt he feels at the thought of never being able to experience flight.
