Inducted into the The Kent State University Hall of Fame in 1981.
Attended KSU from 1970-1973. Considered by many as one of the greatest football players in KSU history. . .His jersey (No. 99) was retired on May 5, 1977. Came to KSU as a quarterback in 1971 then moved to defensive end in 1971, then put at middle linebacker by then head coach Don James in 1972. Had banner year in 1972 by leading KSU to its first Mid-American Conference Football Championship. Named MAC's Defensive Player of the Year in 1972 as he lead the league in tackles with 233. Also named MVP of the 1972 Tangerine Bowl. Twice named First Team All-MAC in 1972 and 1973. Was named squad captain in 1973 when the team finished with the most wins in team history (9). Finished KSU with career 593 tackles second highest in school history. Selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round of the 1974 NFL draft. Was the cornerstone of the infamous "Steel Curtain" defense that lead the Steelers to four super bowl victories. Named All-Pro seven times and a nine time Pro Bowl selection. Also named top defensive player by the Associated Press in 1976 and was AP's Rookie Defensive Player in 1974.

I made another trip to Kent to the camera store and drove past Dix Stadium. I stopped and found a way into the complex. I found this pavilion that is their Hall of Fame. When I found Jack Lambert I thought I'd try to get the plaque with the stadium in the background. Thank you for your kind comments! I didn't expect to much of a response on a player from a bygone era. But what an era it was!!

@skipt07 It is an interesting 'Hall of Fame' display... my Dad was inducted into his college's 'Wall of Fame' and into his high school's 'Hall of Fame' ... Your photo has inspired me.... I think I will go by his college and high school to see them (and photograph).

@skipt07 - I have seen numerous photos of him with his helmet on minus his teeth. I sure wouldn't want to be on offense and have him zoning in on me. He was a fierce contender.
