If you can hear a dull thudding noise, that is me kicking myself in the butt. Earlier in the day I heard an unusual motor sound, but I didn't get up to see what was causing it. After 2-3 minutes passed a thought dawned on me. I had heard on the news earlier in the week where the Goodyear blimp, "Spirit of Goodyear", was going to be retired and will be moving to Florida. But it was going to do some flyovers in the area beforehand. So I ran to the front door and got a glimpse of the blimp sailing east. I ran and grabbed my camera and then out to the car and started chasing it. But I couldn't catch up to get ahead or alongside to get a photograph of it. I have learned since the original post the blimp is on it way to cover football games on its way to Florida. Today it is heading to Penn State for their game against Michigan and then on to North Carolina. The blimp will be stationed at Goodyear dock in Pompano Beach, also home to the Spirit of Innovation blimp. The nearly 14-year-old airship will fly until it is decommissioned next year as the company launches a round of replacements for its three U.S. blimps over several years.
On the way home I saw my neighbor's horses out grazing in the pasture.
@mittens@calm@tuya - Thank you for your wonderful comments! I have learned more information as to where it was heading today. It was on its way east so it can cover the Penn State - Michigan game tomorrow at State College, PA then on to North Carolina.
Ah, yes, the Goodyear home is about 6 miles from me! I love watching it fly over. One once crashed here in Coral Springs during a thunder storm. Lovely horses. Great sky!

well, who needs a blimp photo when you can have THIS one instead! this is really fantastic. so many things...I really love the corn stalks in the background and the lines of color. fav
