We stopped at a local orchard today to pick up some apples and I discovered this bee hive that they had inside the store. The orchard has its own hives outdoors but the owner brought some in for the customers to see.

Thank you all for your kind comments. They were behind glass. It was a specially made beehive that was about the size and thickness of a regular home window. I had a heck of a time trying to keep glare from the inside lights from reflecting off the glass. There was one area where there were more bees, but I couldn't find a spot to keep the glare from hitting the glass. That, I learned later, was were the queen was. The drone and workers had her well hidden.
I just saw on TV tonight where a man in Iowa lost 60% of his bees due to our harsh winter. He pulled out the combs and the bees were dead on it. This is a wonderful capture!
@lynnz - That is what the nursery owner told me too. This was only a small hive. As you drive down the highway you can see the other hives along the tree line. I hope they made it because bees in this area have been sparse anyway. There were stories that a fungus was killing them. I know the past couple of years when I was out taking picture and come upon multi flora they normally would be overwhelmed with bees. You could hear the buzzing from 10-20 feet away. But no longer.
