Carriage House
This is part 5 of a 12 part series.
This is the carriage house, which served as the estate's garage, stables, and living quarters for the chauffeur and groomsman. Horseback riding was one of the many sporting activities on the estate. The garage had space for 10 cars, with a car wash and mechanics pit located in adjacent rooms. Today it houses the gift shop, cafe and where you register and buy tickets for admission. Some of the horse stalls have been turned into small dining areas of the cafe.
