We were driving home and spotted this squirrel eating a nut while sitting on this fence. I backed the car up to try to capture him. I got one shot and he took off. I even shot out the side window so as not to spook him. Cropped a lot!
Wow, very cool. Is that really his tail hanging way down there? And thanks very much, now I will have the almond joy song in my head the rest of the night!
Can't tell you how many times I have shot out my car window (both sides). I have to ask what is in the background that is such a bright yellow-green. Cute squirrel.
@tabarlett - Thank you Tammy! Yes that is its tail. I am glad I could plant the song in your mind! :)
@jaboney - Thank you Mike! I don't know why the background looked that yellow. The light was coming from behind the squirrel. It must have been the angle it was hitting the grass.
@eyesmile - Thank you for your kind words Gena. I was thrilled that it sat there as long as it did after I backed up.
@vickisfotos - Thank you very much Vicki for your gracious comment and fav!
@paulaw - Thank you so much Paula! It was a big squirrel.
@annbo - Hi Ann it is good to see you back! Thank you for your kind comment and fav! When I saw yellow the camera recorded the background I wasn't sure if I should follow Else's advice and "Let it go" or try to darken it in PhotoShop.
@joansmor - Thank you very much Joan! It was was just field grass in a pasture. I don't recall it being that yellow, but I was so focused on the squirrel I didn't really notice the grass color. It was probably just the result of how the sun was hitting it.
@lyndemc - Thank you very much Denise! I see that the 70D has a touch screen and all the fancy new bells and whistles, but I see it is made with a composite body. The 7D has the magnesium body. I am not sure I want to tackle learning a new camera and the touch screen features too? But I guess it has both the buttons on knobs. I'll be doing more research.
@danette - Thank you Danette. I just pushed the shutter button. The light and grass color was none of my doing.
Haha! You also adjusted the settings and put it in focus. Plus you stopped the automobile and rolled down the window! All other credit goes to God. :-)
@danette - God made the squirrel, the grass, the trees that made the fence, the sun to backlight the squirrel, the technology to make cameras and record images on a sensor that are saved on a card. He made me and gave me the ability to see and to take pictures. All the glory goes to God! :0)
@taffy@mtpagano
Thank you very much Taffy and Michelle! The yellow that you see is how the camera recorded the grass. Giving away a secret, there was another fence behind the squirrel that was distracting and using the clone stamp I removed it. But that color is how the sun made it look.
He is just as cute as can be - but I am surprised he stayed put for you to back up - I think they can hear me thinking at 100 yards and they're off! Super composition with the fence and grasses.
@tonygig - I appreciate your comments Tony! Thank you!
@pyrrhula - The was a candy company in the USA started by Peter Paul Halajian. He called it the Winjamy Candy Manufacturing Company. It was later bought out by the Hersey Chocolate Company but they kept the name, Peter Paul. Two of their candy bars are Almond Joy and Mounds. Almond Joy, of course has nuts. They have or had a commercial that had a catchy jingle:
Sometimes you fell like a nut,
Sometimes you don't.
Peter Paul Almond Joy has nuts,
Mounds don't.
@princesicita - Your comments are very kind! Thank you!
Good luck on deciding which camera to go with. I'm very pleased with my 7D but imagine the 70D is an impression piece of equipment as well.
@seattlite - Thank you Gloria!

@milaniet - I was surprised too! It must have been so intent on eating the nut that it waited until it was finished.
@lynnz - Thank you very much Lynn for your wonderful comments and fav!
