Actually they were the same height, but the perspective gave them a tall-short illusion. That's more obvious when you note that the depth of field is a bit too shallow, as Shorty is a little out of focus. Not my best, but I was low on choices today.
I'm sorry but this pic makes me laugh! These two heads sticking up there, those geese expressions as they look at you looking at them... it's a hoot! Did you use a telephoto to get this close?
You asked about the processing in my Rural Abandon photo — I altered the highlights and shadows in Photoshop as well as created a desaturated layer to up the details a little more. It's a cheater way of creating HDR effect without actually taking the three-plus pictures. Learned it on youtube....
@pcoulson@tuya@grahambudd Thanks for the comments! Geese are plentiful around here - which means you really have to watch your step if you opt to photograph them. :-o
@lyndemc Glad my photo could give you a laugh! I was using my little Lumix p & S, which has up to a 24X zoom, but I don't think this was zoomed. I did crop it, however.
Thanks for the explanation on your Rural Abandon shot. Very nice effect. It's amazing the things that Photoshop makes possible!
