This is an old farming village that is part operating farm and part tourist attraction. I will be posting more photos from this location, as it proved to be a photographer's paradise.
Red barns and blue skies surrounded by green grass and trees; photographer happiness! I like where you took the picture from — the lane invites everyone to come on in!
I love this sort of thing (available, of course on NS's southern shore, but not so much in Orange County Calif!) Do you mind me asking where in NS you hail from? We bought an old home in Lunenburg in 2000 and spend 4-6 month a year there...leaving in late June, so my photos will all change! (yea!)
@888rachel Your wish shall be granted, Rachel. I took a ton of pictures and have posted some since this. I fear burning everyone out on red houses and barns.
@lyndemc Boy, did I get lucky with the weather and the light! I figured I might never get back to this spot, so I guess the great photographer in the sky was looking down on me.....with pity.
@Weezilou If this is how Nova Scotia looks, I long to get there. I am planning a ride to Maine in August, and I'd love to squeeze in a visit to that whole area. As for family, I'm not entirely sure where the gang comes from. I seem to remember Halifax and St. John being mentioned (I know, Saint John is NB). The clans consist of Messers and Cushings, if that rings any bells.
@cjphoto@grahambudd@jin1x Thanks folks! This place could make any photographer look good. I feel lucky to have been able to visit - and on such a splendid day.
@stray_shooter Hi Ron! "Ross Farm"...I believe it's both a working farm and a "farm museum" just a wee bit off the main highway between Halifax and Lunenburg, where we summer. If you were to see it, you'd understand why it struck me! If it's also red buildings that grab your attention, Lunenburg is ready and waiting for your visit! I'll leave my email addy & erase it, so I hope you receive these notices in your email. Feel free to let me know any plans and we can help make your visit a good one! You might be surprised just how many folks I've already met in Nova Scotia through 365! And to think that when we moved there for the summers, we thought we'd be living a solitary life! HA!
