Future Palm Trees

The seed pods on my palms are bursting open revealing thousands of seeds. I took this with my FujiFilm X100S, which I haven't used enough lately. I believe it's really my favorite camera. My D600 is awesome, but this fixed focal length old-fashioned camera is pretty hard to beat.
Ah, only in southern CA. My family in Canada are absolutely thrilled with all the different kinds of palms we have here when they visit. This is a cool shot - great color and clarity.

I was a bit disparaging of "just palms" back in CA when we left Ca... Because of my snarky remark and low expectations, I looked at all around us and rethought my stance, They really are quite awesome, and now I'm going to return to palm-less country, and I'm going to miss their beautiful silhouettes! Oh...and your camera does an amazing job! Beautiful!

Nice shot Ron and you have given me an idea now for some future shot. Attack the flowers firstly with the camera and then with the axe.

Яркие цвета дает камера...все думала стоит мне переходить на нее...

Wonderfully focused image full of colour and sharp detail, possibly a bit of a pain in the neck to shoot Ron?;)

@aglennc @Weezilou Yes, Anita/Louise, I'm probably a bit guilty of taking the local palms for granted too. They really do sort of define California, though (even though most of the palms are not native to the area). My own little attempt at appreciating what the local area has to offer. @terryliv

@terryliv Ha, yes! The palms should in many cases get the axe. I was hoping that these particular "Pygmy Palms" would remain a little more pygmy-like. Instead they've become more like "Giganticus Lupicus" .

@gilbertwood @888rachel @dianeburns Thanks to you, ladies. Credit the awesome FujiFilm X100S for enhancing the clarity and color of the image. I'm just the guy who presses the button.

@pcoulson More like a pain in the forearm. The palms do have spikes at the base of each frond and I did in fact get in a little too close for the palm's liking. The spikes are a bit painful - but, as most photographers would agree, worth it for the shot!

@simta Спасибо Татьяна. Фотоаппарат FujiFilm делает много, чтобы вывести цвет.

Such rich colors! I don't recall seeing a cluster of seeds like this during my years in S. Cal. Perhaps I was unappreciative of the palm's presence then. Or maybe it had something to do with the fact I was only 7 years old. That was a loooong time ago now. :) Another great pic.
