When it rains buckets in Southern California, the mountains become coated with a beautiful dusting of snow. This is not only a special treat but also critical to helping out with the most serious drought in years. There are maybe two to three days during the year when one can capture this scene.
This is southern California at its prettiest...... Those snow capped mountains and the blue, blue sky. Gorgeous Ron. You caught the feel of why so many out of staters decide to move here.
Oh wow!! That is absolutely beautiful! California, it's got it all, don't it. (It has my oldest son now too. He arrived there yesterday and will be enjoying the warmth and beauty of your illustrious state for the next four months.)
And you are so right Ron. Fabulous scene! Sorry you couldn't make it today with our outing with Louise and Ken. Also Joe from 365 was with us. Had a great time!
Beautiful landscape, superb composition, colours and depth of field from f2.8, who needs a fancy camera, lovely image Ron, Fav, may have to get a bridge camera myself:)
I am SO GLAD you caught and posted this! Futilely as we were driving south on 405 I hoped to grab a shot...well haha...THAT didn't happen! I'll send this back to our friends in NS so they see that we, too have snow out here! This is a gorgeous photo!
@pcoulson Thanks so much Peter. Yeah, not the greatest f-stop for a landscape shot, huh? ;-) I heartily encourage you to take a look at a bridge camera. I love this Lumix, but have to admit that my real favorite is the Fuji Film X100S. Not as much in the ability to zoom (must go the old fashioned route and use your feet) but the images are just amazing! Fun camera too.
@Weezilou Thanks, Louise. Actually I was driving too, and tried to grab my camera when I came onto this rise just over the 405, but was too late. I ate lunch and returned the same way and found a place to pull over and went back on foot to grab the shot, not really thinking I'd captured the essence of it. But once on the computer, it was much better than I thought! Hope the NS native don't burn your house down!
@terryliv@888rachel Thanks you Aussies! As much as I long to visit your fine land, sometimes there are certain scenes in So Cal that remind me that I have the good fortune to live in a pretty good place too. ;-)
