Signs of Spring

The nursery where I purchased these plants identifies these as Camelia, but they don't look like any Camelia that I know. They're a brilliant red and they grow very easily, sun or shade. Anyone know what they are?
All I know is they're not covered with snow. A gorgeous springtime Red!

True, the camellia I know are really large flowers. I'm not sure what these are, but they are really pretty.

I looked up Camelia, and they don't look anything like any of the pictures of Camelia I found. The flowers almost look like ixora that grows here in S. Florida, but the leaves on ixora have smooth edges and from the little I can see of the leaves there, they seem to have ridges along the edges.

I was going to say They're beautiful, that's what they are.

lol... yeah, that thing on the hood of the car was a deflated volleyball. That's definitely what it looked like. Funny thing, it lasted for hours like that. Can't get a good one to last very long but the sorry ones stick around.

It's pretty, Ron, but I hope you didn't pay Camellia Bush prices for this one! I don't know the name, but we buy little pots of these at Walmart for color around the house in the summer...

@joysfocus LOL, you know before yesterday I wouldn't have thought that this might be true, but after the snow in HB yesterday, they might very well have been snow covered! Thanks, Joy.

@clake Thanks for the research, Caroline! It looks like Sarah zeroed in on them - Flaming Katy, she says!

@kauaikris Thanks, Kristina - I could cover the back yard with these if desired......but I don't desire.

@opticlens Alright! Thanks for solving the mystery, Sarah! A fitting name, I say. Thanks for the ID and thanks for the comment!

@pcoulson Thanks Peter - much credit goes both the Mother Nature and the Nikon Corporation (and some to Sigma too). I just line them up and press the shutter!

@stray_shooter Yes, I do believe Sarah is right. So, now you know. They do look lovely.

@simta Да, да, Kelanchoe - ты абсолютно правильно Татьяна! Спасибо вам за что идеальный идентификации - я действительно ценю это!

@onewing They are most definitely red! A quite brilliant red! I've also seen them in pink and orange, but the red really stands out.

@lyndemc Thanks, Denise. They do have a special beauty - it doesn't last all that long, but when they are blooming, whoa baby! I get about two blooms a season. Seems a little early this year - maybe I'll get three!

@Weezilou I most certainly didn't pay big bucks for these. In fact, I think all the plants around my property came from a single one gallon pot a few years ago - very easy to breed!

@terryliv Thanks, Terry, yes the red is almost as brilliant as that junior parrot you showed us recently! I hope these don't turn green when they mature.
