Not the greatest photo, but a very cool moment. This baby gorilla was quite the lively one. I believe that's mama whose head he was grabbing. She was not all that receptive to his act of affection and in a not so gentle way pushed him away. Apparently that's papa on the right and he went over to mama and stared here down with a message that was unmistakable. Amazing the social interaction between these creatures.
Oh I LOVE this moment! And it's TOTALLY about the moment, far more than a framed photo! This totally reminds me of the play time between my CA grandsons! There's a reason two women went to the jungle to live with these social creatures!
Correction: there were three...had to look this up: Called one of the foremost primatologists in the world while she was alive, Fossey, along with Jane Goodall and BirutÄ— Galdikas, were the so-called Trimates, a group of three prominent researchers on primates (Fossey on gorillas; Goodall on common chimpanzees; and Galdikas on orangutans)
