The Birds of Brindabella

One of the things that instilled a desire on my part to get to Australia was the photos posted by @terryliv and others that included the incredibly colourful lorikeets. I had never seen them in the wild and was thrilled when Poppo called me to inform me that some had shown up in the back yard. The colours pop when viewed on black.
Superb capture in wonderful colour and detail Ron, they really stand out against that trade mark bokeh background, when I came across Rainbow Lorikeets in the wild I could not get over the noise such a little bird can make and how colourful they are:)

Aren't they just gorgeous, we get lots of them in our garden and one day we had so many I had to photograph them to be able to count them all from the photo, I counted 53.

I'm glad you got to see some nice lorikeets. Did the king parrots ever return?

Incredible little birds of many colors! So cool to see these in their natural
habitat...I've only seen them at the animal park in San Diego.

@pcoulson Thanks for the comments Peter. I have to say I was surprised at the noise they make too! I learned to recognize their sound quickly. When we came across them in the wild I was a bit surprised at the noise the group made!

@onewing Holy cow, 53?!? It must have been an amazing array of colour! I'll bet that even Terry doesn't get that many!

@888rachel Thanks Rachel. Yes, the king parrots did return later in the day. I got some shots that will be posted here before too long. Beautiful birds.

@redy4et Thanks Elizabeth, WAP was the only setting that I had been able to see them too. It was nice to see them without all of the screaming kids with their nectar. ;-)

@gilbertwood Thanks Denise - you have the good fortune to have them too. Lucky! I did indeed have a great time during me visit.
