The raptor show at the Lone Pine Sanctuary in Brisbane features a very impressive demonstration of the birds of prey, including some amazing hawks, falcons and owls. I was lucky to get this image as they claim this guy is the fastest among the falcons. Not so good are the hundred or so shots where I failed to catch a clear image of him. Thank God for cards with lots of memory!
Great shot (you're two "great shots" up on me). This was the Brahminy Kite Ron. The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest bird, actually the fastest living creature and it was the smaller falcon with light grey body and dark grey wings.
@terryliv I stand corrected. So far I'm 100% in the wrong bird ID department. Should have taken better notes. This guy was pretty fast, you have to admit!
@888rachel Thanks Rachel - as corrected by Poppo, though, I now realize that this one is not the fastest one - probably the reason I was able to photograph him, while failing on the Peregrin falcon. Heck, I have a hard enough time capturing them when they're sitting on their handlers arms taking a nap.
