Flamingo Friday is just underway... That's all I'm going to say about that... The fun is just getting started ; ) (we'll be in zoo-proximity next week when we go see the boys... I need a new stash as well!)
I'm sorry but this one looks almost demented; that red eye looks evil! Is there by chance some color editing that has changed our lovely vibrant Flamingos of last Friday to this Friday's paler version (with angry eyes)?? I have to admit that I'd love to feel that neck. I grab my African Grey around the neck and give her kisses on the top of the head. Bird necks feel so odd because they're all feathers really. Imagining that Flamingos would feel much the same. Something tells me I'll likely never actually know.
Maybe you could expand your horizons Ron. Sun Bear Sunday, Mongoose Monday, Toucan Tuesday, Warthog Wednesday, Thorny Devil Thursday, Salamander Saturday. I'm excited just thinking about it
Ron, where is it's colour??
love the striations in the beak and it's big fat nostrils.. it's eye is glowing, most oddly!! i like that it is 'placed' against another wishy-washy coloured Flamingo - it really stands out, as does the space caused by the junction of beak/neck/waterdrop.
@pcoulson Ha, you noticed that I was using my big lens! Thanks so much Peter. It's nothing fancy, really - a Tamron 150 - 600 mm zoom that I picked up for a pretty good price. Very useful at the zoo!
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie - this group all had those very strange red eyes. I don't know if it's red eye - or red beak? It didn't seem to be so noticeable when I was taking the shots. And I certainly didn't enhance them any. Maybe something to explore.
@lyndemc I can't tell you how the neck feels as I'm also unlikely to put one around me, but if I do you'll be the first one to get the report. As for the processing, no I didn't do anything significant to change any of the coloring. All of the photos of this group of flamingos showed these eerie red eyes. Maybe they got some really rich shrimp?
@onewing@joysfocus Add that the two of you would lay the "evil" description on my poor friend here. However, I have to admit that there is that evil look to him really. Not really sure why his eye is so red. They all had that look. Thanks for the comments!
@jorlam I get such a kick out of your detailed observations. Thanks so much! Yeah, this group of flamingos didn't have quite the color that I usually see in my subjects. Imagine how crazy that eye would have looked had I done some color boosting!
@aglennc Thanks Anita. I do believe there was a Friday, but not really sure. Now without a job I can hardly tell one day from the other. All I know is I have to put the trash out when I see my neighbors do so.
@stray_shooter Isn't that the truth. John keeps saying he needs a watch with the day of the week on it. I keep telling him to look at his cell phone! Regarding the trash.... We're the same way. When the neighbors do it, we do it. We've miss a time or two, but.......
