Friends! Romans! Flamingomen!
It's rare that I've been able to capture one of my subjects with the underside of his wings exposed. The black makes such a stark contrast to the soft shades of pink that you normally see in the outer feathers. They usually do this to dry their wings, but it can also be part of the mating ritual, labeled the wing salute. I'm sure female flamingos would be smitten by this guy.
Must be Friday Ron's around to take some shots, if I just stand on my tip toes and stretch my neck I'm sure he will notice me this week, Great capture love the detail, colours and the pose its to die for Ron:)
Oh yeah, if I were a lady flamingo, I would say he is sponge-worthy. Can I say that on 365? Anyway he gives the impression of being very regal and proud. He is a leader for sure!
He's definitely what folk in the north of England call: 'Cock of the North' meaning he thinks he's bigger/more important than he is.. full of himself.. it's a fabulous image, your timing was impeccable and i adore the humour.. this goofy looking bird even manages to look haughty, go figure..
Hi Ron. Love the flamingoes! Finding something to challenge you with is a challenge in itself! I thought high key might be a little out of the norm for you, would you like to give it a go?
@adrienneb Hi Pam! I guess the challenge to the challenge is a compliment! Thanks. High key is a good choice. Consider it accepted. :-) I'll be back to you on your posting to issue my challenge. Thanks!
@farmreporter Thank you Wendy. Funny, many people expressed surprise in regard to the black on the underside of the wings, and then in the last few days there have been several shots (at least on my feed) showing flamingos in flight with the black plainly showing. Crazy timing.
@Weezilou OK, so I'm commenting well after you posted, so I have the benefit of giving you major kudos for such an imaginative counter for flamingo friday. Once again, nicely done.....and thank you kindly for your comments. Oh, and the last of the meringues was consumed today. Thanks again for those!
@lyndemc Thanks muchly, Denise. Not sure about the world famous bit, but there does seem to be a bit of an uptick in flamingo postings on 365 these days. Love it!
