Rare Opportunity

Anyone who has attempted to photograph a Blue Morpho with his wings in the open position will understand that it occurs about as frequently as a millennial eschewing a smart phone. The only times I seem to have seen them like this is dried out and stuck to a card with pins. But this guy just sat there with closing and opening, closing and opening, affording me the opportunity to catch the amazing blue color in his wings. As a bonus, they start to look pretty ratty pretty quickly, but this guy's wings were fully intact and even the little red and yellow highlights on the wings' edges are evident. This may never happen to me again.
That really is a feat! I only ever manage to get them with their wings closed, or dead. Great capture!

What a wonderful find lovely pin sharp point of focus and use of a shallow depth of field draws the eye into the subject beautifully Ron, Fav:)

OMG perfect capture! I have so many shots with the wings closed - I just could not get any of the little blighters to keep the wings open long enough for a shot! A stunning image - such beautiful colour!
