I was at the beach shooting the sunset last week when I saw these kids heading down the beach toward the surf. The reflection was my initial thought in capturing the image, but when I looked at it on the computer with a bit of processing I thought it had a certain Norman Rockwell feel to it. Thoughts?
Its an interesting thought it does fit Norman's style in composition, you could have increased the noise to give it a little more of an arty feel, btw, its a great candid capture shot Ron:)
This is fabulous on black and certainly qualifies as a Rockwell look alike. Did you know that while still in his teens, he was the Art Director for the Boy Scout’s magazine, “Boy’s Life”? He was one of the illustrator greats, if not the greatest, for his time. He could take your photo to the cover of a summer issue of The Saturday Evening Post, with very few brush strokes needed.
@pcoulson Thanks Peter. You must have been peeking over my shoulder, as I gave some serious thought to giving it some texture to make it appear as a sort of painting (given the Norman Rockwell feel). In the end I decided against it.....but now maybe regretting it!
@louannwarren Thanks Lou Ann - I never thought to check it out on black. Thanks for that advice - and for the history lesson! I knew he did the Boys Life and the Saturday Evening Post covers, but never knew he did that at such a young age. Impressive man for sure!
