i missed my stop on the way home, actually went one stop over, which was fine because my apartment building is accessible by two subway stations anyway, this one and the other one. :-)
i had a major senior moment trying to figure out why i missed my stop so i stayed on the platform for a while, planning on taking the next train back, only i was on the wrong platform. and when i realized it, this train was coming into the station, so i took my camera out and ta-daaah! i have my photo for today.
did you know that ribbet has this new feature called 'extra black and white'? yes, they do. and that's what i used to process this thingie.
thank you, ladies and gents, for your kind visits and comments; know that i truly appreciate them. i shall catch up on yours tomorrow as it is way past my bedtime. night-night all!
Nice shot! I'm not sure what the difference between "extra black and white" and the "adjustable threshhold" effect is because you can get the same results with both- but I like this one. I haven't had a chance to use it much yet though. Good shot- glad you weren't too far out of the way and that your missed stop provided you with a photo!
this is a beauty of a shot! fav! incidentally, on my way home this evening i saw someone at yonge and bloor with a big honkin' dslr taking shots... almost went up and asked if they were on 365 and what they thought they were doing horning in on my schtick ;p
@mrsc19 - thank you, chris. when you're in a subway like ours, often times this is just the shot or angle you can get because you want to be inconspicuous - the subway people had been in trouble so many times because of eager-beaver camera people. also there's a few 'angry' people everywhere in the subway system and if they thought you're taking their photo, argh! you don't want to have a confrontation, at least i don't. so i noticed the girl standing there alone and the train's visible in my viewfinder so i thought i should be quick or i won't get the comp i wanted. the starburst was a complete surprise when i uploaded it. kinda neat, methinks. thank you, chris.
@claireuk - hehehehe! i've actually done that, but that was because we just moved at the time and been living in the old house for 15 years so it was a matter of habit. these days, when that happens, it would be the big A. thankfully, i still know where i live. for now. thank you, claire.
@northy - that wasn't me! i swear! i swear! my dslr isn't honkin' big. it's a meow dslr. i wouldn't do it there, too busy, methinks. some looney-bin might think you're an alien and attack you and there goes your camera! thank you, i'm so glad you like this.
@summerfield Oh, I know it's different from the regular b/w. It doesn't seem to be that much different from adjustable threshhold. I guess what this effect does is just automatically sets your threshhhold settings for you.
@bkbinthecity - thank you, brian.
