nickels by summerfield

nickels

canadian and american nickels. these four get a lot of abuse from me as i use them to unscrew things like the wrist strap for my camera and the tripod thingie (whatever it's called) and to tighten anything that needs tightening and screwing. tee-hee! that didn't sound right, did it?

week three of the self-imposed black and white challenge. i'm grateful that my friends ann, bill and sally and sometimes katy are joining me. this week we are finding objects that start with the letter N.

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
Nice!! Poor nickels, though. Love the textured background.

Well, chalk up another "great minds think alike" as nickel is on my list of N words this week! Yours are quite shiny. I hope I'll be able to find a suitably bright one for my shot too!

Haha, nickels are the best screwdriver in a pinch! I love that the Canadian nickel has wildlife on the back. American money always has to be so patriotic, although we do have buffalo nickels.

Isn't there a saying about rubbing two nickels together?

Hahaha! Great idea. Works better than a thumb nail.

Great clarity on this one

I like how you are all doing the b and w challenge with a theme like Letter N. Cool! It is funny how close you and I are, but yet...totally different countries, different money, different everything probably! Weird.

@amandal - an idiom - "i'm too poor i don't have two nickels to rub together."

Lovely simple composition. Nickels are something we don't have.

Lovely shot

They don't look too beat up. Maybe the b&w helps that :) great shot as usual

That word is not in our language! I could never work out how much it was worth when I was in the States! Interesting faces on the coins so good focus!

@maggiemae - tee-hee! it's the same as in the states and in canada but the currency designs are different, as are the values. the penny is one cent, nickel is five cents, dime is ten cents, quarter is twenty-five cents. it took me a few years to remember all that when i first landed in canada 26 years ago. thank you, maggiemae.
