craving for weeks now to do outside night shots but too chicken to brave the cold. finally, just needed to get it done with, so northy and i met up downtown and prowled the financial district. we spent quite a large amount of time at the commerce court courtyard.
while she's feeding meeeeester penguin's lust for the cold air, i was photographing this beautiful perfume bottle. this is "j'adore" by christian dior. stark empty and the scent almost gone. a nice young lady at the office gave it to me. at one point, i had to lie down on my stomach just to get this view point and boy! was the pavement über cold. well, yes, the temperature at that time was working its way down to the forecasted -8 celcius for the night. there's too much light reflected on the bottle and i just might re-shoot this bottle indoors to see how i fare with the lighting.
Thanks for the link to your other shot! That was before I started following you and now I understand the title! I admire your dedication to lay on the cold hard ground to get this terrific shot. Wonderful light and color on the bottle with perfect use of sc.
I love the picture and the reflected light in the bottle. I did wonder how the picture would change witout the bright spot to the right of the bottle. (oh, and thanks for the image of a grown woman lying on her belly in cold city night. Now I don't feel such a fool, or at least I know I'm not alone in being a possible fool.)
I really like this bottle and the night lighting is great for it! If you do shoot it indoors you should try for a reflective black background too. In my mind it'd be a stunning shot! Bravo to you for getting down and chilly for the shot- it's perfect!
