after ann, bill and i finished viewing the american side of niagara falls, we saw this woman who sold souvenir key chains and bead bracelets. she had a big cardinal feeding from her hands and she was murmuring some strange words to the bird like she was talking to it while the cardinal casually pecks seeds from her hand. this took place as we passed by. ann and i just quietly took our cameras out and began shooting as we quietly neared the woman's table. we did stand quite a distance as we wondered whether we should pay her or not thinking this must be part of her way to earn a living. when the bird flew away, she just quietly put the remaining seeds in a container and went about her business.
the lighting on the woman's face is horrendous the sun being directly overhead and this is one of those instances where a reflector could've been handy.
regret i am unable to do much commenting as the internet is quite sporadic and of course most of the day yesterday and today, the three of us are off for some shooting spree! thank you for your patience and understanding.
thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
sooc but for the small crop to take out a garbage can.
I don't remember much after reading "after Ann,Bill, and I" !!! So jealous! Okay so I do remember some of that! In spite of the bad light you were dealt this is a terrific shot, even more amazing because of her skills exhibited.
Oh my, that is amazing to see! Lucky you @ Niagara Falls. All the years I lived near there, I just thought of it as water rushing over rock! Now that I have a much better appreciation, there are so many photo opportunities around that area. Love the Niagara Parkway!
Wow, great shot. I can't believe the American side was open. We were there last year about this time and it was still frozen over, course I think last winter was much colder than this past one.
How wonderful! Hang the lighting! You KNOW I find this inspiring and beautiful in the sincerity of her gaze, and who's to say that cardinal isn't hanging on to her every word! I believe it's quite possible...
@grammyn you'll have to plan to come next time Katy!
This really was a sight to behold, wasn't it? Since I knew you were going to post it, I haven't played around with my shot yet. I went for the night shots instead.
